Jogalia Nankar, a small village in Bihar's Motihari district, is home to 2,000 people. Out of these, 200 own cellphones. A small number this, but the excitement of these people towards cellphones is amazing. For them mobiles are as good megical boxes. With little or no power, charging of cell phones is a difficult task. Most charge their devices through tractors, while some take their phones to the nearest markets to get them charged through generators.
Keeping these hardships in mind, Lal Babu, a resident of the village, came up with an innovative idea. On returning from Delhi, where he had saved some money, Babu established a solar charge in his house. This cost him Rs.3,500. So now all villagers withcellpohones come t Babu to get their phones charged. And the enterprising man charges them Rs./10 for charging each device. In this way he achieves two aims; saving energy and earning money.
